How to install car lift?

Installing a car lift can be a complex task, but with the right tools and instructions, it is possible to do it yourself. Here are some general steps to guide you through the process:

Step 1: Gather the necessary tools and equipment

To install a car lift, you will need the following items:

  • Two 10 to 12 step ladders
  • ISO 32 Light Hydraulic Oil (approximately 12 quarts)
  • Tape Measure
  • Rotary Hammer Drill with a 1/2-inch Drill Bit (Core Drill Rebar Cutter recommended)
  • 4 Level
  • Sockets and Open Wrench set, 1/2-inch thru 1-1/2-inch (1-1/8-inch for 1/2-inch Anchors)
  • Vise grips
  • 8mm Socket Head Wrench
  • Torque wrench
  • Teflon Tape

Step 2: Read the installation manual

It is crucial to carefully read and follow the installation manual provided by the car lift manufacturer. The manual will provide specific instructions and safety guidelines for your particular model of car lift.

Step 3: Prepare the installation area

Ensure that the installation area is clear and free from any obstructions. It is recommended to stay 6-8 inches away from significant concrete cracks or seams.

. Also, check the thickness of the concrete floor to ensure it is sufficient to support the car lift. Residential concrete garage floors are typically 4 to 5 inches thick.

Step 4: Assemble the car lift

Follow the assembly instructions provided in the installation manual. Carefully tighten bolts by hand until instructed otherwise.

Position the car lift in the desired location, making sure it is level. Use the 4 level to ensure proper alignment. Once the lift is in position, secure it to the floor using the appropriate anchors and fasteners as specified in the installation manual.

Step 6: Test and adjust

After the car lift is installed, it is important to test and adjust it before use. Follow the instructions in the manual to remove any air trapped in the hydraulic system and make necessary adjustments to ensure smooth operation.
